Point of No Return (Turning Point #1)

Picture Perfect - Evangeline Anderson I enjoyed this, it has that whole 'forbidden romance' thing going for it but since they've only been step-siblings since they were in their late teens (5 years ago) they didn't even really grow-up together so it's not too sibling-ish. Despite this, they are appropriately freaked out about being attracted to each other and avoiding their feelings. (Although they made a good point that if they had met and gotten together first, would their parents not be together because of that just cuz they met after? Prob not)

So anyway, here are the things that annoyed me a bit. While I liked the whole set-up of the photo shoot (ignoring the obvious inconsistencies that the photographer would have been very clear before hiring someone that it is in fact a sexual-ish photo shoot), it went on for a bit too long. The fist half was sweet and shy and sexy and was a great scenario for forcing them to admit to some things that they had been denying to themselves. However, it took up most of the book, which I think was too much. This should have just been the catalyst, not the whole story.

Also, I think things went a little too far in the photo shoot (maybe minor spoiler alert ahead), and given their constant reluctance it's kind of hard to believe they would rally have sex during the shoot. And for their first time it left me lacking the emotion I wanted to see since it was a little clinical. Don't even get me started on the "it's not really sex if it's only touching... I mean if it's only the head... I mean if it's only half in... I mean if it's all the way in but not moving... I mean as long as he doesn't cum..." I get that they were rationalizing and even they knew they were full of shit, but it was a little annoying.

I think if after the photo shoot they had had more interactions and we got to see them struggling with their emotions, including Kurt, it would have helped. Kurt was a little too rigid (ha-ha) with his resistance and some back and forth should-we shouldn't-we would have helped to build drama.

If you liked this, Spank Me, Big Brother, is a really good and similar one, but it goes a little more into the emotions behind this type of relationship and you connect a bit more with the characters.
