Point of No Return (Turning Point #1)
N.R. Walker
Unacceptable Risk (Hidden Wolves, #1) - Kaje Harper 3.5 stars I liked this story. There was actually a fairly slow progression of their relationship (or at least it felt that way, I think it was actually only two weeks) as opposed to some shifter books where it feels like everything happens in two days. I felt like Paul went through some normal emotions associated with all of a sudden being attracted to a man. Although he may have seemed at times to take it all pretty easily, he checked porn online, thought about what it would mean, if he's ever felt this way before, as opposed to just a freak out. Although he doesn't remember ever being attracted to men before, I wonder if he showed some signs and his crazy-ass mom fucked him up with that regard and he was in denial. There was a flash-back of her scorning him for being attracted to some slutty woman (but out of the blue) and he mentioned her praying and saying he had the devil in him. Just a theory.

As to The Pack... this is tricky. On the one hand, I appreciate when they make werewolves 'realistic' and not too human. On the other hand, they were assholes. I understood the reasoning of why even wolves that liked Simon couldn't speak up for him, but that didn't make me like it. It's hard to understand why Simon would stay and take such abuse. It did end in a satisfactory way, where I felt better about the pack, but I can certainly understand Paul's hesitancy at the way they do things. Thank God Aaron took over! And it was even better that they split the pack in two cuz now they don't even have to deal with the assholes that are still gonna hate Simon no matter what. I'm curious to see where things with the pack go from here.

It ended well. Although they had reconciled it did feel like I needed a little more time to feel that Paul was okay with everything and they were good. I think the ending is OK if the next book is also about these guys, but if it's a new couple then we should have gotten an Epilogue to seal things up a little better here. (SIDE NOTE: I just found out the next book is Aaron's - YIPPIE! - but Paul and Simon have a free short to follow up on things here!
